The Riverview Music Festival has just announced that, Chicago prog-jamsters, Umphrey's McGee will top-out this year’s lineup.

This event Held on the DeVry University campus - just behind Dominick's @ Roscoe & Western - peaked our interest last year with Umphrey's headlining the closing evening.

This year will feature Umphrey's playing two sets on both Saturday & Sunday evening - Other acts on the schedule include Chicago Afrobeat Project, Cornmeal, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Andreas Kapsalis Trio, Brothers Past, Tea Leaf Green, North Mississippi Allstars, and Banyan (featuring Steve Kimock, Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction, Willie Waldman, & Tony Franklin).

When you've been around for 25 years you must be doing something right. The Queers released their first 7" way back in 1982 and have been going strong ever since. 25 years later Joe King (aka Joe Queer) takes the stage once again in support of a new album, Munki Brain, (out today!) and a new DVD to be released later this month.

More info on today's show here.

After a seven year hiatus Rage Against the Machine is apparently ready to retake the spotlight. The west coast musicians/activists will reunite for the first time since 2000 to play a set at the Coachella Music Festival in April.

No word yet on plans for a new album or other tour dates, but fans will be sure to take this as a step in the right direction.

Last fall after a quick rise including a slot at Lollapalooza & a great debut release, the Cankles called it quits. Citing “artistic differences” for the demise sounded all too familiar, but now as the New Year breaks you have a chance to hear what will rise from the ashes.

This Thursday former Cankle vocalist & keyboardist, Kid Static comes to Wicker Park's Subterranean for a performance featuring (fellow ex-Cankles) Ricky Ropesack & DJ Once a Month. This evening should prove to be interesting & should provide insight as to what is to come from these Chicago-based musicians.

Check out the details here.
